Certified Insurance Counseling

Five years ago I decided to finish what I started about 30 years ago…getting a degree in insurance as a minor.  So, I started the rigorous Certified Insurance Counselor designation which comprises 5 parts.  Those parts include:  Commercial Property, Commercial Liability, Personal Lines, Agency Management and Life and Health. Today, I celebrated receiving that designation with about 16 others.

CIC’s set themselves apart from the rest of the pack with exceptional knowledge in Insurance coverage forms and learning how to coach their clients in their Insurance purchasing decisions. A CIC insurance agent is a business partner with their client, not just a sales agent for the insurance company.

My next step is to finish the Charter Property and Casualty Underwriter designation (CPCU).  I have completed 7 of the 10 parts but life got busy and oh well.  Three lovely girls later and tons of activities along the way put the last 3 parts on hold. This designation is the crème de la crème when it comes to insurance knowledge.  If I can just stop going to college football games and teaching Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University, I might fit it in the next 10 years!
